Festival Montréal Baroque needs amateur choristers for Monteverdi’s Vespers!
Festival Montréal Baroque takes great pleasure in inviting you to join us in a performance of Monteverdi’s Vespers in surround sound, with Ensemble Caprice (Matthias Maute) and its professional choir.
When? For the grand opening of the Festival’s 15th anniversary edition on June 22 2017 at 7pm (dress rehearsal – June 21 at 5.30pm)
Where? Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in Old Montreal
Why do we need you? To join us in creating a majestic surround sound experience for the opening of the Vespers, Domine ad adjuvandum me festina, and the hymn Ave, maris stella.
And why this project in 2017, a year of anniversaries?
From the very beginning of Nouvelle France and the foundation of Montreal up until to Canada’s Federation 150 years ago, the country’s most cohesive element was music: everybody sang! Our event will celebrate this common ground by bringing together some of Canada’s finest Early Music specialists with community choirs and audience members. This joint effort will highlight how music was performed 150 and 375 years ago: music that included the community was always part of any great performance.
Midi-files for homework prior to the dress rehearsal are availablehere. The midi-files for Domine ad adjuvandum me festina are namedDeus in adjutorium.
Choir 1 and 2 desgnations will be communicated to participants after May 24.
Cost of participation:
In return for this exceptional opportunity to create a unique performance with a professional orchestra and choir, we are asking that each participating chorister buy at least one ticket for the concert through their choir or at the dress rehearsal, at the new reduced price of 15$ (a discount of over 55% on a regular-priced ticket) – entry for every chorister is free, the ticket is to give to a family member or a friend to come hear you sing!
