The Montreal Baroque Festival is proud to be part of the McCord Museum’s Urban Forest outdoor programme. Now in its 7th year, the McCord Museum has created one of the most beautiful terrasses in the city on a pedestrianized section of Victoria Street, between Sherbrooke St. West and President-Kennedy Avenue. La Fanfare Carmagnole will be performing here to the delight of all music lovers.

What music did Renaissance travelers carry in their saddlebags when they left Europe and ventured into Ottoman lands? And what music did they bring back with them? Were they converted by what they heard? In this session, Carla Zecher from McGill’s Early Modern Conversions project will follow in the footsteps of the sixteenth-century French botanist and amateur lutenist, Pierre Belon, as he maps the musical contours of the Eastern Mediterranean.
